The Northern Red Oak bark has a distinct look. Its almost as if there are ski trails down the tree. In between the bark there are also hints of red which help to identify it. Click here to see a picture.
In this particular area one of the first trees we saw was an Ash tree. The opposite branches indicated that it was either a Maple, Ash, or Dogwood tree. The size and bark of the ash tree gave it away.
